Preparing for a solo art show

I’m so excited to say I’ll be having my first solo art show in october. The show will be featured at the ExoTea gallery in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Selling art through galleries used to be the only real way an artist could make a living with his art. But with the rise of the internet, artists were given the opportunity to take their careers into their own hands. Social media platforms have made it possible to reach a large audience, and ecommerce platforms have made selling art on the internet feasible for even the most tech challenged artist.

Since I’m a webdesigner/front-end developer by trade and I also like to be in control, the do-it yourself approach appealed to me the most when envisioning my own fine-art career path. Yet still I’ve always cherished the wish to one day showcase my work in an art exhibition. So needless to say I was delighted when the opportunity came along to have my own solo show. Even though, as an introvert, the thought of being the center of attention really scares the crap out of me, I’m still very much excited and grateful.

There’s a few weeks left to prepare for the art show, and since I’m new at this I’m figuring things out as I go along. But, so far so good! I’ll announce the opening event as soon as a final date is set.
