Over the last couple of years we’ve been seeing more and more black women embrace their natural hair. ‘Hairitage’ is an event to honor those women and the natural hair movement, and will be held on march 26th in theater Zaal 3 in The Hague. There will be talks and personal stories, tips & tricks by hair professionals, and an art show by yours truly.
During the event we’ll dive into four themes:
- Our Hairitage
- Hair value
- Undercover
- Love is in the hair
Among the guests are actrice Joy Delima, with a monologue about her personal hair journey, and journalist/fashion activist Janice Deul, co-author of the Little Black Hair Book. The evening will be closed with an after party by Mama Africa Sound System.
Diversity is a key element of my artwork, and being ‘a natural’ myself I love portraying black women with their natural curls. My art celebrates those women, so I’m honoured to have my artwork featured in an event that upholds the same values. My artwork will be showcased in the lobby/restaurant of Zaal 3 during the whole month of march and will be free to access during opening hours.
